The TC Relaunch is a rugged, handheld device that provides a low cost
means of verifying the alarm status, stopping a mission in
progress, and re-launching missions on the Dallas Semiconductor
DS1921 family of Thermochron iButtons.
The TC Relaunch provides four primary functions:Mission Verification -
The TC Relaunch tests the state of the MIP (mission in progress) flag to determine
if the DS1921 has a mission in progress. If the Thermochron has an active mission
running, then the touch LED is flashed once, otherwise it will be flashed 10 times
to indicate that the touched DS1921 does not have a mission in progress. In
either case, the TC Relaunch then automatically proceeds to perform alarm verification.
Alarm Verification -The TC Relaunch looks at the stored alarm events and
indicates if any have occurred during the current mission. If no alarm events have
occurred the Green LED is turned on for 3 seconds. If alarm events have occurred
the Red LED is turned on for 3 seconds.
Mission Stop -The TC Relaunch can be used to stop a mission in progress.
This allows the DS1921 to stop taking temperature readings and maintain the log
data already acquired. When a DS1921 is touched by the TC Relaunch, the touch LED
in the upper left corner flashes once to indicate a successful touch. If the touch
is held past the three second alarm indication period and for an additional 3 seconds
the touch LED will flash 10 times to indicate that it has successfully stopped the
mission in progress.
Mission Restart -The TC Relaunch can be used to restart a mission.
First, stop any mission that may be in progress (see above), then re-touch the stopped
DS1921. The touch LED will flash 10 times to indicate that there is no mission
in progress. Continue to hold the TC Relaunch on the DS1921 for three seconds. The
DS1921 will then be launched using the same parameters as those set when the Thermochron
was previously missioned. This allows missions to be easily restarted without fear
of the Thermochron's mission parameters being accidentally altered. While
all previously logged data will be overwritten, the following parameters will be
retained: Real-Time Clock Registers, Real-Time Clock Alarm, Low Temperature Threshold,
High Temperature Threshold, Sample Rate, Roll Over, TLS, THS, and TAS. The successful re-launch will be indicated by both Red and Green LEDs
being turned on for 2 seconds. Subsequent touches will indicate a mission in progress.
